Vous n’avez pas ________ lettres. I would say des correct answer is de???
This question relates to:French lesson "Du/de la/de l'/des all become de/d' in negative sentences (French Partitive Articles)"
Asked 3 years ago
Hi Maiju,
The lesson that you were studying points out that these partitive articles become de or d' in negative sentences. That is why "vous n'avez pas de lettres" is appropriate here.
Hope that this will help you to understand more clearly.

But isn't des an article like in une, un, des? I don't think it serves the purposes of meaning "a part of", right? The names are also countables so how can it be a partititive article? Help!
