What is the English translation for “histoire d’en profiter au maximum tant que ça dure.”

Hi Margot,

I am assuming that the problem is the expression 'histoire de' which is idiomatic.

It just means 'just to' in English but I agree that it is very odd although frequently used in French.

I would translate the whole sentence by something like -

Just to make the most of the situation while it lasts

Something like,     "To make the most of it (story/situation) while it lasts"

The meaning is given in Larousse's dictionary under 'Expressions':

Familier. Histoire de, à seule fin de : Il sortit dans la rue, histoire de prendre l'air.
