Why is it "la Belgique" in 2 out of 3 of the above phrases?  Why isn't it "les frites viennent de la Belgique?"

Bonjour Adrienne,

'Belgique' is feminine. Therefore, "je viens de la Belgique" (I come from Belgium)

Follow the links below for an explanation on why: Venir de/d'/du/des = To come/be from with countries/states/regions and continents (French Prepositions)">venir de + [country] / why not 'de la France'

I agree with you, I would expect it to be written La Belgique.
