In this case, I refer musique as general thing. Am I correct?
J'aime écouter la musique.

J'aime écouter la musique.
Hi Alan,
I stand corrected!
These questions without context are always harder than they look.
In fact you can say -
J'aime la musique, le théâtre, le cinéma, le tennis ...
in an enumeration of things you like in general but the verb écouter changes everything as you can only listen to some of the music.
So it will be :
J'aime écouter de la musique, faire du ski, de la natation etc.
Or
J'aime écouter de la musique baroque
j'aime écouter la musique de Mozart
Not easy for learners...
I think this is wrong. It would be like saying "J'aime boire la bière". You can't drink all the beer in the world, and similarly you can't listen to all the music in the world. It should be:
"J'aime écouter de la musique" or
"J'aime écouter la musique classique".
