Bonjour Neil,

From the lesson:-

"Your logic is unbeatable"

You propose to replace "imparable" with "incontestable"

Imparable relates to implacable or inévitable whereas incontestable relates to certain, évident, vrai.

It doesn't look like "incontestable" is synonymous with "imparable".

From the lesson, I, therefore, believe that "imparable" is the most appropriate for "unbeatable"

I will be interested in reading what others may wish to offer.

Bonne journée

Jim

I have to agree with Neil.  "Implacable, unstoppable, unanswerable" has a far different meaning than "certain, unquestionable, undeniable".  The two words are not synonymous and I would argue that "incontestable" is the more appropriate here.

Just to add to this very interesting discussion, the word 'imparable' , I believe,  comes from fencing,  a sport that is very popular in France ( l'escrime).

The verb 'parer' (to parry) is to defend or block an incoming attack.

By extension it is to dodge, to avoid.

So synonyms may be :

indiscutable, inévitable, implacable

What do you think?
