I don’t understand why this sentence doesn’t need an a to form the passé composé: Il y a quelqu’un “a” caché dans les citrouilles. The correct answer didn’t have the a after quelqu’un. I think to say hidden, past tense, would be “a caché?” Thanks for your help.

Il y a quelqu'un caché dans les citrouilles. -- There is someone hidden in the pumpkins.
Il y avait quelqu'un caché dans les citrouilles. -- There was someone hidden in the pumpkins.

Note that caché is used as an adjective, not a verb in this sentence. The conjugated verb is avoir.
