Il veut que j'aille acheter du lait vs

Hi. For the sentence, "Il veut que j'aille acheter du lait." can it be substituted for "il me veut aller acheter du lait" ? Or is this sentence incorrect?

Hi Kristin,

No, you cannot say -

Il me veut acheter du lait

Il veut que j'aille acheter du lait He want me to go and buy some milk

is correct.

Bonne Continuation!

Hi Kristin,

Vouloir que requires the subjunctive mood for the verb after que.

Your other option suggests that "He wants me to go to buy some milk"

"Il veut que j'aille acheter du lait".  I think your option construction will need to be written as shown.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kristin

A bit confused.. you should not be required to use the subjunctive in A1.. but I am not liking your alternative.

Il veut que j'aille acheter du lait vs
