I want to spend time
Why is "Je veux que je passe" not acceptable?

Hi Frank,
You would only use vouloir que when you have two different subjects in the clauses -
Je veux qu'elle donne ... = I want her to give ...
Il veut qu'ils arrivent = He wants them to arrive
etc.
When the subject is the same person you will use
Je veux donner = I want to give
Il veut arriver = He wants to arrive
Hope this helps!

Hello Frank!
I noticed a typo on Cécile's answer but I couldn't figure out how to reply to her directly. I quoted the section below:
"When the subject is the same person you will use
Je veux donner = He wants to give"
Shouldn't Je veux donner = I want to give?
Many thanks!
