Tu joues de la trompette. - Tu en joues. You play trumpet. - You play (it)
so would Tu la joues be wrong or just another way to say the same thing?

I'm confused re: en or le/la here
This question relates to:French lesson "En can replace de + [phrase] (French Adverbial Pronouns)"
Asked 2 weeks ago
Hi Di,
It is frustrating but the answer is no, in the case of instruments you have to use 'en' as the verb is -
jouer de + instrument musical
jouer du piano = to play the piano
jouer de la flute = to play the flute
Jouer de = to play an instrument in French
The 'en' replaces 'de la trompette' because of the 'de' as explained in the lesson you quote.
Hope this helps!
