Why isn't feter a correct answer?

Hi Ariana, 

Because the verb 'fêter' is to celebrate something rather than to party.

On va fêter son anniversaire dimanche = We are going to celebrate his/her birthday on Sunday 

Ce soir je vais faire la fête = Tonight I am going to party
