Ennuyerais vs ennuieras

In the above examplers, it shows both "payeras" and "paieras" as being valid.

So why is "Je m'ennuierai à cette fête" considred correct, while "

Je m'ennuyerai à cette fête" was not?

Is it only "-ayer" verbs that allow the two alternatives?

Rebecca, yes, it is only ‘-ayer’ verbs that have this particular alternative.

From the lesson :

“ ATTENTION:

Verbs in -AYER, in spoken French (included written dialogue in a play for example) also accept an alternative version where the y is kept (and also pronounced differently) “

Many dictionaries, Laura Lawless and other sites have conjugation tables that are useful references :

Conjugate semi-regular -oyer/-ayer/-uyer verbs in the future tense in French (Le Futur Simple)
