What is the difference of "savoir" and "connaître"? They both mean "to know", right? When should I use which one?

Just to add to what Maarten said, and after studying the lesson, there are some Fill-in-the- blanks on savoir and connaître that you can practice and that will test if you have understood the difference or not -
