shouldn't it be "de nouvelles technologies"?  no s if an adjective comes before noun?

Hi Leah,

 I think the text says -

".... quand on parle des nouvelles technologies."

Here, as Paul points out, it stands for the new technologies which enable selfies rather than just new technologies, hence the

'des'

I think in this case it is because the “des” represents “de les” i.e. “of the” as opposed to when “des” can be translated as “some”. 

Il y a DE nouvelles technologies, mais qu’est que tu penses DES nouvelles technologies.
