‘De’ instead comes ‘to’ why when????

Example:je décide de pratiquer in English I decide to practice and I try to attend in French j’essaye d’assister. Why to remplace by ‘de’ ????

In French the verbs -
Décider de faire quelque chose = To decide to do something
Essayer de faire quelque chose = To try to do something 
take the extra 'de'  when they are followed by another verb.
e.g
J'ai décidé d'aller à Paris le mois prochain = I have decided to go to Paris next month 
Nous allons essayer de vous aider = We are going to try and help you

Many times, the preposition de is used to introduce an infinitive.

Je lui ai demandé un autre verre. -- I asked him for another glass.
Je lui ai demandé de nous apporter un autre verre. -- I asked him to bring us another glass.
