Not sure what you mean?

The point here is that the lesson is on the subject of French grammar of contractions of articles.

It is required to follow and learn how to apply the "rules" involved in this aspect of French grammar.

There is no interpretation nor context involved -- just a matter of following and understanding the lesson.
