Hi,

The three words you will hear for 'a company' will be:

or the slang word 'la boîte' -

If you want to say you want to start your own business you might say -

Monter/créer sa propre boîte / monter/créer sa propre entreprise

When you want to say for instance in the business world you will use the generic term entreprise -  'en entreprise'

Also, entreprise is used to describe the sector known as small and medium-size companies, referred to as PME (Petites et Moyennes Entreprises) in French.

Hope this helps!

Bonjour !

Company can be either “compagnie” or “entreprise”.

But, entreprise is more of a business company.
