You could use 'ainsi que' at the beginning of a sentence but traditionally it will go in the middle comparing the two elements it links -

e.g.

Le français ainsi que l'italien dérivent du latin = French as well as Italian derive from Latin

Ainsi que l'italien et l'espagnol, le Français dérive du latin.

Note how the verb then agrees differently.
