how about being from a state or country? Are they all « de » somehow I can’t find lessons talking about from somewhere other than cities. Is it:?
je viens de Californie
je viens de États-Unis.
Merci d’aVance

For those who might be wondering about this (I also had the same question), we use venir de / venir du / venir des. It's described here:
Venir de/d'/du/des = To come/be from with countries/states/regions and continents (French Prepositions)
For example: I come from Yorkshire. = Je viens du Yorkshire.
