I had written 'Il me faut aller sur le toit', which Kwiziq corrected to 'Il faut que j'aille sur le toit'. I know the construction 'il faut + subjunctive', but could you not use the infinitive when there is the same subject in the main and relative clause? Or does the meaning of the sentence change? Thank you

Avoir besoin vs falloir

Bonjour Sophia,
The English was -
I would need to go on the roof
The answers we accept use the conditional tense
Il faudrait que j'aille sur le toît
J'aurais besoin d'aller sur le toît
so it would have to be -
I will ask for it to be added if possible.
Bonne Continuation !
Bonjour Sophie,
Following on Cécile's response, "il me faudrait aller/monter sur le toit" has been added to the options. However, it is a really formal to speak and it's rather "antiquated" so it's not the best option albeit grammatically correct.
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
Bonjour Sophia,
There is a high level of concern and anxiety being expressed in this story.
I see the subjunctive mood as being the most appropriate way to highlight this aspect.
Bonne journée
Jim
