Avant de + infinitive

Avant de + infinitive

The guidance says 'any object is placed between the de and the infinitive' so I'm puzzled as to why the example given doesn't end 'avant d'une solution trouver' instead of  the given 'avant de trouver une solution'. Merci!

Hi all,

Thank you for your input, I have now added the word 'pronoun' after 'object' to make matters clearer.

Bonne Continuation!

Yes, the sentence is ambiguous: «any object or reflexive pronoun» - but it means 'any object pronoun or reflexive pronoun is placed between de and infinitive'. A minor edit would clarify.

Agreed. That minor edit would remove any ambiguity.

Merci, Chris et Maarten, maintenant je comprends pourquoi!
