Would either be accepted? It's my understanding that one means "at the end", and the other means "finally". Thank you

Au finale vs au final
This question relates to:French dictation exercise "Babysitting my niece and nephew"
Asked 1 year ago
Bonjour James,
"Au finale" would not work as "finale" is feminine so the preposition "au" should be "à la finale" - which has a very different meaning to "at the end / finally"-> https://www.wordreference.com/fren/finale - https://www.wordreference.com/fren/au%20final
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !

à la finale -- at the finals
au final -- in the end / in the long run / at the end of the day
