Aren't there two ways to say "I was 5 minutes late"?

Why was my answer: " Je suis en retard cinq minutes"

marked wrong and the only correct answer was "J'ai cinq minutes de retard".

I thought that there were two ways to say "I was 5 minutes late"

J'ai cinq minutes de retard.
Je suis en retard de cinq minutes.
