A bit of contradiction between lessons
Marc achète un nouveau vélo et une nouvelle voiture
This question relates to:French lesson "Beau, nouveau, vieux, fou, mou have two masculine forms and one feminine form (French Adjectives)"
Asked 3 years ago
Not really, Mark. Nouvelle is the default word to say "new" in a general way. If you want to stress the fact that something is brand new, you use neuf/neuve. It's really very much the same as in English, if you think of neuf as "brand new" and nouveau as "new".
(I'm sure there are some exceptions, but in most cases you're spot-on with this rule.)

Thanks Chris.. the reason I questioned it was that last time I was told that it was neuf unless specified d'occasion... looks there is a decidedly grey area!
