One of the quizzes has a sentence:  La Castafiore faints (s'évanouir) all the time.

This question is totally unrelated to reflexive verbs, but I can't figure out what La Castafiore is.  Can you give a little history on this noun, please?  I enjoy picking up a little non-grammar knowledge from time to time.  Thanks.

I do not understand why "Sams does Aikido" is translated as "Sam fait de l'aïkido.".  The lesson says that in front of masculine nouns that de le and les will contract to du and des.  Why is this not "Sam fait du aïkido"?

Should “nous nous sommes impatientés” actually be “nous nous sommes impatientées” because the “nous” refers to Noémie (female) and her “famille” (a feminine word)?

Hello, today while watching the news I picked up the sentence:

on a isolé les murs au cas où nous devions rester longtemps.

I wonder why "devrait" is not used in this case.

And can we use e.g. /dans le cas où + sentence/ instead of /au cas où + sentence/ ?

Are we to translate "smells good" or "Smells the rose?"

One of he correct answers to "We're going to have to hurry then!" was - "- Nous allons devoir nous dépêcher alors ! " Shouldn't that be nous se dépêcher? Or nous nous dépêcher? Se dépêcher = to hurry, dépêcher = to dispatch?

I am reading an easy french novel and am confused about the grammer in these instances:

Il ne vous reste qu'a (with accent acute) vous enfuir.

qu'est-ce que j'ai a (with accent acute) perdre

why is the enfuir not conjugated, and preceded by the a?

why do you need the a before the perdre?
