Is student a profession?I apologize if this gets posted twice -- I had to log in and it disappeared. Question: If I am a professor, I say "Je suis professeur." But if I am a student, do I say "Je suis étudiant." even though it's not exactly a profession? Merci !

The position of "prochain/prochaine", relative to nouns.In the following sentence from a quizz: Aujourd'hui, les fantômes ________(choisissent) leur prochaine victime. - Why is "prochaine" positioned before the noun, please? Yet, if we say "next week", we say: "la semaine prochaine". Cheryl

"Espérer que" and the dreaded subjunctive.

The very useful subjunctivisor of Lawless French advises that the verb espérer que when used in the affirmative = no subjunctive (usually in the future tense), whereas espérer que when used in the negative or interrogative = subjunctive. So in this exercise shouldn't it be "Espérons qu'il aura raison"? (as she is definitely affirmatively hoping for this result). Or is the imperative another case where this verb takes the subjunctive? And if so, is this the case for other similar verbs like penser que? And also in the tu and vous forms of the imperative as well as the nous form? Thanks.

Il fait vent or Il y a du ventHello Kwiziq staff, I read your paragraph about the use of "Il fait ___" being idiomatic and somewhat clunky-sounding. For me, I have been instructed to say "Il fait vent" more times than I can remember (and is found in The Ultimate French Review and Practice, Premium 3rd Edition as a standard weather expression) and have not heard of "Il y a du vent" yet in my studies before encountering this question on your website.
