This strikes me as strange phrase.  Can you explain a little how the parts semantically make up the whole?  Thanks!

Adding the passé simple to the picture is such a pain in the neck, really!!! Can I use un combattre in stead of une bataille to the final sentence of the story.

At a minimum, it seems like there should be a conjunction or a que to better structure the sentence.

Anyway, can someone translate/explain this sentence?

I got marked wrong for writing "Depuis que Amandine...". This is correct, I believe, given that Amandine is a proper noun. Am I wrong here?

Mildly thrown off, and it's actually only related somewhat, but one of the questions I was asked was "You were going to make soup, but then..." and what threw me off was I attempted to use cuisiner instead of faire, as I thought that's what you used in regards to making food, but the answer used faire? Or is that just specific dishes and general types of food use faire?

Au cours des années, elle m'a transmis sa passion - why is passé composé used? She clearly says 'over the years' so a repeated action? surely the imparfait would be used here?
