Just wondering why these exercises aren't marked automatically. I think the whole thing would flow much better if we could go straight from one section to the next.

Agree with Maarten. Don't think of the marks as corrections. Think of them as pointing out differences to the most likely answer. It takes much more computing power (think ChatGPT) to provide a correction tailored to your answer. That's not what this is meant to be.
With the differences pointed out to you, and other possible variants listed, it is up to you to determine how you grade your reply. That's why these are self-graded exercises.
I agree. Marking your own exam is as strange as participation trophies!
I would say ‘careful what you wish for’ !
With all the minor things you could ‘get wrong’, do you really want a machine to determine whether you know the material ? An upgraded machine with even greater artificial ‘ non-intelligence ‘ ?
Even on simple one or two word fill in the blanks, there are more than enough issues with bot correction.
Salut, Tony. I agree with both Maarten and Chris. I would not want a computer bot to correct these exercises for me.
I appreciate being able to do the self-assessment. This way I can ascertain the difference between a small mistake, (such as a typo, or punctuation), and an area where, due to a lack of understanding or knowledge, I can choose to focus my attention.
Another benefit to the self-grading technique is that it eliminates all the frustrations that come with having an impersonal outside source determining what I may or may not understand. In the end, I find it empowers me to take charge of my own learning experience and motivates me to pursue my interests. I think the other way would be very discouraging.
One of the best qualities of Kwiziq/Lawless French is the personal aspect that it has. It is a great community of learners who encourage one another. And, in that vein...
Bonne Continuation !
I always do the Listening & Writing exercises with a pencil and paper, and never type anything in the answer field. I just compare what I wrote down with the answer provided on a line-by-line basis. I recommend trying out this method! :)
