It’s the first time that I’ve come across « faire revenir » in culinary terms. Is it used over « faire dorer » for that manner of cooking or can either expression be used ?

Hello! I'm confused about the sentence: "Pour que tous les habitants comprennent, le roi François Ier décide en 1539 .... " If the English translation takes place in the past tense (the king François decided), why does the phrase seem to be conjugated in the present tense? Why not "le roi François Ier a décidé?" Merci!

What is wrong with saying “j’ai trouvé 

leur livre” for “I found their book”? Isn’t it the same as “j’ai trouvé le livre des enfants “?

Please help me distinguish those two words, I keep making mistake when it comes to translating the word "predict" in English.

My friend and I were wondering who would be correct. 

She said: The sentence would be vous venez à hurt heures ce soir?

But, I told her the sentence should be Vous venez à vingt-deux ce soir. Since it would be the 24 hour clock for 8pm. Would I be correct?

Dan la négation, par exemple: je n’aime pas d’escargots. De is under 0 number, why escargots is using plural? Affirmative answer: j’aime des escargots have quantities therefore is understandable to use pluriel.

When is it appropriate to use "Plus que parfait" in a conversation?

tu lis pour te relaxer, you read to relax,  why te is used  for to and not au?

In the last sentence, "he has become" is translated "c'est devenu."  Why not "il est devenu"?
