Would "D'ailleurs" also be acceptable in the sentence  that starts, "De plus, je n'ai jamais été très patient..." ?

Bonjour Adrienne,

Chris is correct that they are close and yet not in this case. "Besides" means "en plus / de plus / en outre" whilst "d'ailleurs" means "by the way, incidentally, by the by"

D'ailleurs and de plus are very close to each other. D'ailleurs is preferred if there is a logic connection implied.
