Why the agreement?

Comme chaque année depuis que tu nous as quittéS

I did read the lesson on past participle agreement with avoir but am still not sure why the 's' is needed in the above.

This question relates to:French dictation exercise "On this Father's Day..."

Hi G,

Haven't listened to the text but I'm speculating that "nous" is a direct object pronoun appearing before the verb therefore past participle agreement "quittéS".

Yes thanks Jim!

In the attached lesson the examples given only use le/la/l'/les as the direct object pronouns which confused me a little.
