for "mardi prochain"? the quiz asks about mardi prochain. I fully understand using the present for near future. got it. But "next Tuesday" is not so "near" that the future tense should be wrong! at least both options should be right.

What is the near future depends a lot about context, which makes answering this question difficult in a general way. But you can turn this issue around: if the speaker resorts to the present tense, she considers the time frame as lying in the near future.
