Why is it "ma salle de bainS". Why the "s"?
Bonjour Chris,
That's a very interesting point! As Maarten said 'salle de bains' is most commonly used. L'Académie française does recommend this spelling. That's why we only accept this option at present. ;-)
Also, 'bain' will be plural in expressions such as "un établissement de bains" (= a bathhouse), "garçon de bains" (= a washer).

“Salle de bains” is correct, and most commonly used. I see that wordreference also has “salle de bain” but this is not standard. “La salle pour prendre son bain/ses bains” (as “bain” refers to the act of having a bath it is effectively the “room for ‘taking baths’; not the room of bathtubs)
