Using the ils/elles form of verb as stem of Subjunctive and Groups of Verbs

Just a question concerning the reference to Finir as the Regular 2nd group of -ir verbs; and Partir as Irregular 3rd group of -ir verbs.

Is there an explanation somewhere of the groups of verbs that are being referred to here? What is the Regular 1st group -ir verbs, etc.?

Bonjour Shamrockhill,

That's a very good question! French verbs are typically classified by their conjugations and they are divided into verb conjugation groups: Regular 2nd group of -ir verb or Irregular 3rd group of -ir verbs etc.

Please follow the link below where you will find an in-depth explanation:

Conjugation Groups

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Céline, the Conversation Groups link you provided is a wonderful consolidated resource.  If there would be a way to make that page "bookmarkable" within PwLF, it would be very helpful.  Just a suggestion!
