Using en or dans

In the writing challenge "A lousy date" Why is 'in a club' translated as "en boîte", while 'in a bar' is translated as "dans un bar". Thank you

The term "en boîte" means "canned" as in "canned food". This meaning has been transposed to a new context: "aller en boîte" means to go clubbing, to hit the dance floors, to go for a bop (British). Therefore the use of "en" in this context is purely idiomatic.
