Word reference translates flavor or flavour as either la saveur or le goût, except for yogurts or ice creams, in which case le parfum is preferred. So, in the text, since we are talking about desserts in general, why not allow saveur or goût?

Bonjour Frank,
We discussed your suggestion (using "saveur" or "goût"). We decided to change the entire structure as "saveur/goût" don't work with this specific structure (i.e. "mon goût / ma saveur préféré.e est ...").
You could encounter "saveur/goût" in the following contexts:
L'eau n'a aucune saveur / n'a aucun goût. = Water has no flavour.
Cette saveur est bizarre. = This flavour is strange.
C'est un goût amer. = It's a bitter flavour.
