J'ai des animaux. - Je n'ai pas d'animaux.I've got (some) animals. -Me, I don't have any animals.
Why us GOT? I realise that "I've got"is frequently used by English speakers, but I've is a contraction of "I have", therefore the use of Got in the sentence is unnecessary, and poor English.

The use of GOT?
This question relates to:French lesson "Du/de la/de l'/des all become de/d' in negative sentences (French Partitive Articles)"
Asked 8 months ago
Michael,
This issue of ‘have or have got ‘ has been raised before - ‘have got’ is not incorrect.
There are regional differences in usage with both ‘ have ‘ and ‘ have got ‘ being accepted, correct grammar. The latter is considered less formal in British English, but is also stated in some of the attached to be more common in British than American English.
