The answer to Joanne's question
Hi Chris,
Can you elaborate a little more on this please? "Oui, je les ai tous. -- Yes, I have them all. This makes no reference to any group of things of which you have taken some or all."
I'm a little confused, why we can't say "J'en ai tous" but we say "J'en ai un".
Thank you!

Hi Mabita,
The sentence "Yes, I have them all" references an implied group indirectly through the use of "all". All of what? That's the implied group.
Tu les as tous? -- Non, je n'en ai que trois. -- Do you have all of them? No, I have only three (of them).
