This is probably British slang for spend extravagantly.  I have never heard this used in the U. S.

Thank you for your comment! We discussed "splash out" within our team and we agreed that "splurge" is the US equivalent (as Chris mentioned it in an earlier response). It has now been added to the sentence. ;-)

Agree with Maarten, it's maybe not the go-to phrase in the U.S. but it does exist. More commonly, one would use "splurge" in the U.S.
