Pourquoi "le raisin mur"

Pourquoi "le raisin mûr" au lieu de "des (ou les) raisins mûrs" dans la phrase :

Les vendangeurs cueillent le raisin mûr.

         par rapport à

Mon fils cueille des pâquerettes pour la Fête des Mères.

This question relates to:
French lesson "Conjugate cueillir and derivatives in Le Présent (present tense)"

Bonjour Tom !

That's because in French le raisin is singular, unlike the plural grapes in English :)

Je mange du raisin.  =  I eat (some) grapes.

Un grain de raisin is how you call one grape.

Also, a raisin is called un raisin sec (dry) in French ;)

I hope that's helpful!
Bonne journée !
