Why is "...pour que je puisse comprendre..." not acceptable?

The subject in both clauses is the same, “je”, so “pour que” and subjunctive would not be used - pour comprendre is correct here. (I agree with Angela’s sentiment though that sometimes it does seem that the questions remain the same, it’s only the answers that change as you move between exercises/levels)!

I’m guessing because this is an A2 exercise and the subjunctive doesn’t figure at that level! It certainly sounds ok to me.
