Pour avoir fait vs Ayant fait

Hello,

Is there's a difference between "pour avoir fait" and "ayant fait"? If yes, when does one use which?

Thanks!

Jo

pour avoir fait -- for having done (past infinitive)
ayant fait -- having done (gerundive)

The English translations of both options are deceptively similar, but the infinitive construction is strictly causal (because of pour). The gerundive is not nearly as strongly causal. It implies more a temporal proximity.
