Plus-que-parfait avec avoir

Voilà deux petites cartes que j'avais achetées.

We do not accord in case of avoir verb as opposed to être in passé composé, but in Plus-que-parfait why have we accorded the 'acheter' verb when with avoir? And does the same happen in case of être as well (in Plus-que-parfait?)

Hi Babit,

Your statement "we do not accord in the case of avoir ...." is incorrect.

"Voilà deux petites cartes que j'avais achetées."

The direct object "cartes" is female and plural and is placed before the verb avoir and therefore requires concordance with the past participle of the verb acheter, therefore achetées.

When the direct object (or its pronoun) appears before the verb with être the same situation is true.

Bonne continuation

Jim
