Pierre n'achète pas de vélo
According to a question here, "Pierre n'achète pas de vélo" means "Pierre doesn't buy any bike". When would you use this phrase and when would you rather say "Pierre n'achète aucun vélo" ?

That's an interesting point. I would say that "Pierre n'achète pas de vélo." means "Pierre doesn't buy a (or any) bike." without emphasis on number, whereas to really emphasise 'any', I would use "aucun vélo".
