Nous faisons virer de l'argent une fois par mois

How do we know in which direction the money is going? Is it coming to us or are we sending it to someone? The English implies it is coming to us.

Bonjour Chris !

Indeed, I can totally see how this sentence could lead to confusion. So to remove the ambiguity, we've changed it to "We have money transferred to our children once a month.", so as to make the causative case Jim expertly explained much clearer.

I hope that's helpful!
Bonne journée !

Hi Chris,

The subject is not performing the action but is causing (Causative Faire) an agent to do so.

So "We had transferred (by an agent) the money (payment) once per month."

Therefore the money is going from you elsewhere once per month and you had it set up to happen.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Aurelie thats clear now. Jim your solutiuon doesn't help bevcause we could have had the agent transfer the money to ourselves or to someone else.

Yes and if you read my question it wasnt clear if the money was coming to us, or going from us elsewhere.' We have money transferred every month' could mean either of these things.
