Hello Laurie
I think you are very lucky if your grandmother can speak French and work through the exercises with you. Writing it ALL out sounds a pain but a lot of research has shown that writing things out helps you to organise, remember and understand.
So stick with it!.. those exercises are great.. and if you are reading and listening at A2 level.. you are motoring!
