This (see highlight) seems wrong. Meilleur is the correct answer. If you add a comma and then put « , c’est » mieux works - as shown in the follow on example. Right ?!? I find linking verbs very challenging and would love someone to give a lesson on this topic. No one seems to in any of the popular tools. Maybe you can be first lol.

I'm noy sure what you mean by "linking verbs"? Could you give more details please?
As for using "meilleur" (in "Ta télé est bien mais la mienne est mieux"), it might look counterintuitive: you're talking about a function so using "bon/meilleur" should be OK. But, in French, you cannot do so because it's a general comment/opinion of an object, so you should use "bien/mieux".
Ta télé est bonne/meilleure
-> To French native speakers, it sounds as if the TV is food
Ta télé est bien/mieux
-> general comment/opinion
