Marked wrong in error.??

ne...plus with a pronoun.

The question was: "Are we waiting for Laura? No, we're not waiting for her any longer.

I put:  Nous attendons Laura? Non, nous ne l'attendons plus.

This was marked incorrect. Please explain why the pronoun "la" can't be used here, in abbreviated form with an apostrophe.

The lesson that accompanies the question does not deal with pronouns.

I can't see why my answer is wrong.

Please advise.

Bonjour Owen,

On the face of it, I cannot explain why you were marked wrong.

You appear to be following the "rule" mentioned in the link below and which I have copied further on in this message.

Attendre quelqu'un vs s'attendre à quelque chose = to wait vs to expect in French

"Note that (in this context: to expect/wait for [someone/something]) the verb attendre is NOT followed by a preposition in French, and is used with direct object pronouns (le, la, les, nous, vous, me, te)."

Your transitive usage of verb attendre appears to be valid  --  so we need to wait for a staff expert to comment, then we will both become wiser.

Bonne journée

Jim

Agree with Jim, your answer -- Nous ne l'attendons plus -- sounds good to me. But I don't know the full text of the corresponding question.
