lutter, combattre

Pour la question 12, puis-je écrire, 'je lutterais contre le machiavélique Cardinal Richelieu'?

Hello Faustina,

While "lutter" means fight, I don't see it as the appropriate word for this particular case. "lutter" refers more to an effort than to a physical fight.

For example, I could say "Je lutte contre le paludisme". That means "I am fighting malaria". It's obviously not a physical battle.

"Combattre", however, refers to a physical fight.
