"la série des Martine"

Why is it "des" here, when there is (presumably) only one Martine?

Bonjour Adrian,

That's an very good question!

Martine is indeed the only heroine of the book but "la série des Martine" refers to the collection of books: Martine à la mer, Martine au cirque, Martine fait du camping etc. . Therefore, you will use "des" in this instance as you're referring to the series of books with "Martine" as its heroine.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Thank you, Céline. I've noticed I'm not getting email notifications of answers, even though I tick the box. I only saw your reply because I *was* notified of Paul's like.
