la fameuse course

I was interested in this use of "fameuse", does it have a hint of "infamous" here, rather than meaning "famous" ?

(I know fameux or fameuse can mean famous or celebrated in the context of food.)

Bonjour Anne,

That's an excellent question ! In this context, "fameuse" simply means "renowned", nothing "infamous/notorious" here - although it is possible to use "fameux/euse" thay way (i.e meaning "notorious" - for bad reasons).

le fameux chef de la criminalité = the infamous crime boss

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

There is a sense of being notorious in the above link.
